Before you apply, respond to a recruiter, or accept any offer β spend 10 minutes verifying the company is real. These are the tools I use every time.
Search any company to see their BBB rating, accreditation status, and customer complaints. A real company will usually have a profile.
Search the BBB βSearch the company on LinkedIn. Check employee count, founding date, and whether real people list this company in their work history.
Search LinkedIn βEmployee reviews of companies. Search the company name and look for patterns in the reviews β not just one or two complaints.
Check Glassdoor βSearch the company's listed address. A real business should have a real office. UPS Store addresses and virtual offices are red flags.
Open Google Maps βIf you find or experience a job scam, report it here. Your report helps protect others β and you can check for known scam patterns.
Report Fraud βPeople search and background check tool. Useful for verifying a recruiter's identity or confirming a company's principals are real people with verifiable histories.
